Deadline announced that Daily Show comedian Hasan Minhaj has been granted his own special.
Minhaj has performed as a correspondent for the Comedy Central show since 2014. Since then, he’s garnered appearances on other programs such as Comedy Central’s @midnight, HBO’s Getting On, and the Netflix season of Arrested Development. Minhaj is represented by Haven Entertainment, Hansen Jacobsen, and WME.
The hour-long special, entitled Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King, was filmed as recently as January 27, 2017, at the Mondavi Center in Davis, California. The special is being executive produced by Jennie Church-Coopere, Rick Famuyiwa, Art & Industry, and Michelle Caputo and Shannon Hartman. Chris Storer will serve as the director.
Minhaj’s material, like many other comedians, will reflect on his own unique upbringing. Minhaj was raised with respect to his first generation Indian-American heritage, while also acclimating to his new Americanized world. He is expected to speak about racial matters, bullying, and the American Dream.
There has been no official say about the Netflix premiere date for Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King.
