Netflix Has Lift Off: Releases First Trailer for ‘Away’ Series Starring Hilary Swank

Is there life on Mars? It seems we are about to find out with Netflix’s release of its first trailer for the upcoming series Away starring Hillary Swank. The new sci-fi epic will be available to stream on September 4, 2020 via indiewire.

Away will follow Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) as Emma Green, a NASA commander who leads a group of astronauts on a mission to Mars. Leaving behind a complicated home life, Green must grapple with the fact that she’s left her husband and daughter to fend for themselves in difficult times. The rest of the international crew onboard bring baggage of their own, struggling to come to terms with the loved ones they’ve have left behind. While they continue on their three year mission to Mars, friction burns amongst the crew members as homesickness grows.

Hilary Swank is a two time Oscar-winning actress and one of many movie stars making the jump from film to television. Swank took to Instagram this morning to share her excitement about the first trailer for Away being released.

Away will be a mixture of adventure, romance, and of course, science fiction as the astronauts journey to a place no man has gone before. The show will also star Emmy-nominated actor Josh Charles (The Good Wife) as Green’s husband. The netflix series was created by Andrew Hinderaker (Penny Dreadful) with showrunner Jessica Goldberg (The Path), and is executive produced by TV veteran Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights) according to indiewire.
