Netflix Drops Trailer for New Post-Apocalyptic Series ‘The Rain’

Deadline reported on Thursday that Netflix has released its first trailer and announced the premiere date of an upcoming new original series, The Rain. The show is a Danish production with stars from Denmark, but the series will still be in the English language.

The chilling post-apocalyptic series, set in Denmark, follows two siblings who hide in a bunker for six years after a deadly worldwide virus breaks out. Upon exiting the bunker, they discover that nearly all of mankind has been wiped out by the outbreak.

The two teens end up joining a group of young survivors who must do everything they can to survive in the new world. The Rain will blend genres, taking on the coming-of-age tale combined with a brutal post-apocalyptic setting.

The Rain stars Iben Hjejle, Alba August, Lucas Lynggaard Tonnesen, and Mikkel Boe Folsgaard. The creative minds behind the new Netflix original series are Danish screenwriter Jannik Tai Mosholt with director Esben Toft Jacobsen and actor Christian Potalivo.

Netflix will premiere all episodes of The Rain on May 4.
