Netflix Drops Another Breadcrumb As Anticipation For ‘Stranger Things’ Season Five Continues To Build

Netflix has dropped another breadcrumb in the days leading up to the premiere of the highly anticipated fifth and final season of Stranger Things. The first of three installments will be released on November 27th with four episodes.

Spoiler warning for information below.

In this sneak peek, Eleven vigorously trains, exploding pumpkins with her mind and using her powers to leap over buses. Eleven, played by Millie Bobbie Brown (Enola Holmes, Godzilla: King Of Monsters), had lost her powers for much of season four, only regaining them after reuniting with her pseudo-father, Dr Brenner or “Papa” as his test subjects called him. When Eleven left to help her friends battle Vecna, Brenner, did not believe she was ready for the showdown. It appears that some of that pessimism has rubbed off on Eleven as she tells Joyce, Winona Ryder (Little Women, Bettlejuice Bettlejuice), and Hopper, David Harbour,(Hellboy, Black Widow) “Again,” after they informed her that she had obtained a record time for the obstacle course.

Netflix previously gave fans the first five minutes of season five, a flashback to young Will Byers, Noah Schnapp (Hubie HalloweenThe Peanuts Movie), during his time in the Upside Down in season one. The longstanding, highly fan-theorised connection between him and Vecna is teased further as Vecna states, “Now, we can begin,” while a tentacle attaches to Will’s mouth. Additionally, the season five trailer ends with Vecna telepathically floating current Will Byers towards him, with an ominous voice-over saying, “William, you are going to help me, one last time.”

According to mxdwn, series creators The Duffer Brothers (Hidden, Wayward Pines) have promised  the “biggest season we’ve ever had, in terms of action, in terms of visual effects, in terms of story.” The cast has also gotten on board the hype train. Finn Wolfhard (It, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) said he was concerned about possible “Game of Thrones treatment” before those fears abated after getting his hands on the script.  Harbour has stated that the final episode is the “best they have ever done” and had the entire cast in tears.
