Netflix Denies Player Being Seriously Injured While Competing In Subzero Temperatures On ‘Squid Game’ Reality Series

Netflix has denied claims of player being seriously injured while competing on, Squid Game: The Challenge during subzero temperatures, according to The Hollywood Reporter. United Kingdom tabloids have recently claimed that a player was stretched off the set of the series due to being injured during the cold climate.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, on Wednesday Netflix and its co-producer pushed against the claims in The Sun Tabloid newspaper over the injury that occurred while production was running on former air force base near Bedford. The alleged injury took place during the filming of the known Squid Game Red Light, Green Light game. Netflix defended the onset conditions during the accusation stating that no one was stretched offset.

Netflix and Studio Lambert stated, “We care deeply about the health and safety of our cast and crew, and invested in all the appropriate safety procedures. While it was very cold on set and participants were prepared for that any claims of serious injury are untrue.”

Squid Game: The Challenge is a television reality show version of the popular South Korean series Squid Game. The show features 456 different players from around the world competing for a chance to win 4.65 million dollars. Netflix cast the contestants by finding individuals who were able to speak English to make sure they would be able to follow gameplay directions via on-set loudspeakers.

According to The Sun Tabloid, during the first game which consisted of Red Light, Green Light, contestants had to stay still in -3C weather which caused many to feel unwell. One player stated, “It was like a warzone. People left in tears.”

Another player shared, “Even if hypothermia kicked in then people were willing to stay for as long as possible because a lot of money was on the line. Too many were determined not to move so they stood there for far too long. There were people arriving thinking they were going to be millionaires but they left in tears. Some people couldn’t move their feet because it was so cold.”

“You could hear someone yell ‘medic’ and the crew would rush on. We ended up standing there for 30 minutes between takes. Some were crawling by the end. At least one was carried out on a stretcher.”

Squid Game: The Challenge has yet to have an official release date as it just started shooting, and more information on the series is expected throughout the year.
