Netflix: Arnold Schwarzenegger Stars In New Action-Comedy Series Titled ‘FUBAR’

On Monday, February 27, 2023, Netflix unveiled a sneak peek of its new action-comedy series, titled FUBAR, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (Kindergarten Cop, The Terminator). According to Deadline, FUBAR was previously announced as Untitled Arnold Schwarzenegger Project.

FUBAR will be Schwarzenegger’s first television project, according to Collider. The action-comedy series will follow a father and daughter who learn that they have been keeping the same secret for years. The secret they’ve been keeping was that they are both CIA operatives and lied to each other to safeguard their identities.

“Everywhere I go, people ask me when I’m going to do another big action comedy like True Lies,” stated Schwarzenegger in a statement that accompanied the release date announcement, trailer, and first-look pic via Deadline. “Well, here it is. Fubar will kick your ass and make you laugh – and not just for two hours. You get a whole season. It’s been a joy to work with Nick, Skydance, and Netflix to give my fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for.”

The cast includes Schwarzenegger as Luke; Monica Barbaro (The Good Cop, Top Gun: Maverick) playing Emma, Luke’s daughter; Scott Thompson (The Pacifier, The Kids in the Hall); Jay Baruchel (Goon, Tropic Thunder); Adam Pally (Iron Man 3, Happy Endings); Aparna Brielle (Boo, Bitch, A.P. Bio); Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate, The Last of Us); Andy Buckley (The Lying Game, The Office); Travis Van Winkle (Friday the 13th, Transformers); Fabiana Udenio (Jane the Virgin, Austin Powers: Internation Man of Mystery); Milan Carter (The Neighborhood, Warped!); Barbara Eve Harris (The Amazing Spider-Man, Prison Break); and Fortune Feimster (Office Christmas Party, The Mindy Project). Making a guest appearance is Tom Arnold (The Stupids, True Lies), according to ScreenRant.

“Fubar is, by far, the most surreal project of my career. I grew up watching Arnold Schwarzenegger films — I’d hit my dad up for a few bucks so I could race to the movies and see the biggest star in the world on the big screen — so creating the first scripted television project for Arnold is unbelievably exciting for me,” exclaimed creator, executive producer, and showrunner Nick Santora (Prison Break, Scorpion). “The thing I always marveled at was how Schwarzenegger could be funny while still kicking ass … that’s why I wanted Fubar to be a hysterical, CIA-spy comedy mixed with heart-stopping action! And it is all that – and more. I’d love to elaborate with more details, but, sorry, it’s classified.”

FUBAR will premiere globally on May 25, 2023.
