Netflix Announces ‘Space Force’ Premiere Date and Lisa Kudrow’s Casting

The upcoming Netflix comedy Space Force is set to premiere on the streaming platform on Friday, May 29, according to Deadline. The intergalactic workplace comedy is co-created by The Office alums Steve Carrell (The Office and The Big Short) and Greg Daniels (Parks and Recreation and The Simpsons). The Netflix series will follow the life of pilot and four-star general Mark R. Naird, portrayed by Carrell, who will be chosen to be the head of a new branch of the United States military, the Space Force. Naird’s first mission from the White House will involve him and his Space Force team to re-establish control over the moon. 

In addition to Carrell, the series announced another addition to the Space Force cast in Lisa Kudrow, Kudrow is best known for her role on NBC’s Friends, portraying the free-spirited musician Phoebe Buffay, which she received a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1998. Also, the actress has starred in other television series such as Showtime’s Web Therapy and HBO’s The Comeback. Her addition to the Netflix comedy casts her as Maggie Naird, the wife of General Mark R. Naird. Space Force’s cast also includes John Malkovich (The New Pope), Tawny Newsome (Brockmire), Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley), Ben Schwartz (House of Lies), Alex Sparrow (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), Don Lake (The Bonnie Hunt Show), and Noah Emmerich (The Americans).
