Netflix has requested a third season of Mike Schur’s (The Office, Parks and Recreation) series A Man on the Inside, a series where Charles Nieuwendyk is a detective, starring Ted Danson (Cheers, The Good Place). Season three is coming back in early 2026. According to Deadline, the shows renewal is almost three months after season two was uploaded on Netflix on November 20, 2025. As for what stays and what gets renewed for a new season, comedies and dramas stay and go by a member’s viewer count. It appears, despite its smaller viewership, Netflix is banking on Schur and Danson’s critical ratings. Season two received a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, while season one had a 96% rating.

Deadline continues by saying A Man on the Inside started in 2024 after a quick continuation, even though it did not hit the top ten list. The show came out the same week as Stranger Things the final season and lost to it.

Deadline notes that in Netflix’s watch report from July to December 2025, season two of A Man on the Inside ranked 131 with 9.8 million views, versus season one was number 30 for July to December 2024 with 21.6 million views. There also is a noticeable drop of 55% as well as a fall from 90% for season one and 69% to season two.

According to Deadline, the second half of 2025, ratings have soared for season one, adding an additional 5.9 million views. Netflix announced that that both seasons by December 2025 was more than 45 million.

According to Deadline, season two stars with Charles ready for another breakthrough case. He gets a big chance when he finds out someone is targeting a college president. Charles goes undercover as a professor. He earns his PI license at the end.

Deadline reports season two showcases stars like Mary Elizabeth Ellis (The Grinder, Masterminds), Lilah Richcreek Estrada (The Hand of Now, Chicago Med), Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, Hazbin Hotel), Gary Cole (NCIS, Midnight Caller), Michaela Conlin (Bad Trip, Yellowstone), Lisa Gilroy (Jury Duty, Glamourous), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Lady Bird, Bruised), Madison Hu (Night Shift, Rosemead), Sam Huntington (Jungle 2 Jungle, Fanboys), Jason Mantzoukas (The League, The Dictator), Constance Marie (My Family, Selena), Linda Park (Bosch, Infestation), Mary Steenburgen (ELF, Step Brothers), David Strathairn (Nomadland, The River wild) and Jill Talley (The Loud House, Spongebob SquarePants).
