The release date for the second season of the acclaimed animated series Star Trek: Prodigy has been announced. The story follows the journey of a ragtag group of alien teenagers who find an abandoned Starfleet ship clued the protostar to traverse the galaxy and lead their aid to people in need. According to Deadline, Netflix has set July 1st as the release date for the series on the streaming service.The cast of the first season which consists of Brett Gray (Star Trek Day), Ella Purnell (Arcane), Angus Imrie (Back to the Outback), Jason Mantzoukas (John Wick), and Rylee Alazraqui (Summer Camp Island). However, it has not been confirmed that they will reprise their roles next season.
According to a previous mxdwn article, the second season will surely continue where the first season ended, with the crew being accepted into Starfleet as warrant officers. They then go on a new mission to find out what happened to the missing crew of the Protostar and continue their training.
According to Deadline, the series was originally set to premiere on Paramount+, but it was then dropped. Netflix picked up the series, which consisted of 20 episodes. The series was created by Kevin and Dan Hageman (The Lego Movie), along with Star Trek chief Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek: Discovery) and his team at Secret Hideout. The animation is done by CBS Eye Animation Productions, Nickelodeon Animation, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.
There will be new challenges that Dal and the crew will have to overcome in season two, as well as a new mystery that will have to be solved.We will also see how each one of the characters has grown from their humble beginnings.
