Deadline reports that there is a new Lord Of The Flies show release date on Netflix is May fourth. Last month, Sony Pictures Television had picked up the project after beating many other suitors.
According to Deadline, the BBC and Stan Limited series is a mere adaptation of the novel written in 1954 from the author William Golding (Darkness Visible, The Inhibitors). Lord Of The Flies is the story of teen boys that get lost and trapped on a tropical island, and try to keep their wits about them. Ralph is played by Winston Sawyers (The Crow Girl, The One Show) and is the leader of the teens who is guided by Piggy, the smartest of the group, played by David McKenna (American History X, Get Carter). Challenging Ralph’s authority is Jack who is played by Lox Pratt (Harry Potter), and shoos the other boys away, hoping to change fate to tragedy.
Deadline notes that other cast members who star in the four hour show include Ike Talbut (Lord of the Flies), Thomas Connor (Lonesome Dove, Preaching to the Perverted), brothers Noah and Cassius Flemyng (Planet Coaster, Lord of the Flies), Cornelius Brandreth (Harry Potter), and Tom Page-Turner (Rule Britannia). The book lists smaller roles and many other outcasts of Biguns and Littluns.
According to Deadline, even though Lord of the Flies was from 1954, it only had a film in 1963 by Peter Brook (The Tragedy of Carmen, Seven Days, Seven Nights). The novel also only had a survival pic by Harry Hook (Before I Die Forever, The Kitchen Toto). The Netflix release is the first television showing of Lord Of The Flies, save for the international version of Netflix’s line-up. Along with Lord of the Flies, Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole, The Empress Season 3, Lupin part 4 and Quasimodo are also set to release at the same time.
