The upcoming Netflix adult animated series Hoops has released teaser trailer that revealed its premiere date and some new voice cast members, according to Deadline. The series is created by the filmmaking duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and Ben Hoffman (New Girl, Archer) and will have its first season be composed of ten episodes. The three creators will also executive produce the animated comedy series in addition to the likes of Seth Cohen (American Vandal), Jake Johnson (New Girl), M. Hoops joins a long list of hit adult-animated series for the streaming platform such as Big Mouth, Disenchantment, BoJack Horseman, F is for Family, Paradise PD, and The Midnight Gospel.
Hoops follows the animation of Bento Box Entertainment as it centers on the story of the vulgar Coach Ben Hopkins and his basketball team of misfits as he believes he can take them from last to first in an effort to boost his career. Hopkins is voiced by Johnson while additional cast members include the likes of Natasha Leggero (Let’s Be Cops, The Do-Over) as Ben’s soon-to-be ex-wife Shannon, Ron Funches (Get Hard, Trolls) as Ben’s assistant coach Ron, A.D. Miles as one of the players Matty, Cleo King (Pineapple Express, The Hangover) as Principal Opa, and Ron Riggle (21 Jump Street, Step Brothers) as Ben’s father Barry. Currently, the teaser trailer is the first look at the upcoming Netflix animated series.
From the teaser trailer, Hoops is set to premiere its first season on Netflix on Friday, August 21.
