Neil LaBute’s TV starstudded debut is picked up by DirecTV

DirecTV is a network not often mentioned in the news. Now it is, and here’s why: DirecTV is picking up a short series directed by Neil LaBute. LaBute, who is known for his writing and directing (e.g “the Wicker Man”), will be making his TV debut.

LaBute’s new show is called Full Circle. According to Indiewire, there will be ten episodes that air this Fall. The show is based on the play La Ronde and has an interesting format. Each episode will take place in the same restaurant, focusing on discussion. Each episode will also follow two characters. The characters rotate since there is a different pairing every episode, but they are all connected and each character carries over into another episode in which they are paired with a different character than the one before.

Indiewire also reports that all of the characters will be brought together in the last episode which promises surprises and drama.

What makes this show so exciting (other than LaBute’s tv debut) is the cast list. Each character is only in a couple of the half-hour episodes, allowing some scheduling freedom. Since there is little commitment needed, the show is filled with a superstar cast. Vulture reports the newest additions are Tom Felton (“Harry Potter”) and Keke Palmer (Tru Jackson: VP). Indiewire states these actors join the remarkable cast which includes; Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights), Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck), David Boreanaz (Bones), Keke Palmer (“Akeelah and the Bee”), Devon Gearhart (The Wait), Billy Campbell (the Killing), Kate Walsh (Private Practice), Noah Silver (the Borgias), Ally Sheedy (Welcome to the Rileys), Cheyenne Jackson (“Behind the Candelabra”) and Robin Weigert (Sons of Anarchy).

The show will trace the path connecting all of these characters and bring the stars together in the last episode. Who would not want to see that finale?
