Eva Longoria will be starring in a new sitcom called “Telenovela” (translation: soap opera). According to NBC, the show will be about Eva Longoria’s character playing Ana Sofia, the star of a popular Spanish language soap opera whose off-camera life highly resembles the drama of her onscreen story lines.
Ana Sofia doesn’t speak Spanish and she struggles with her jealous castmates, needy best friends, and her new boss. And that’s all before her ex-husband is brought on the cast of her show to star as her new on-screen lover. The show is just like an actual telenovela, with intense drama in every corner such as hate, heartache, and even life and death. In spite of all the nonstop drama the “Telenovela” cast and crew are a family. Specifically, a very dysfunctional family.
The cast of “Telenovela” had nice things to say about Eva Longoria and her role in the show.
Diana Maria Riva who plays Mimi, Ana Sofia’s best friend said “It’s just fun to see somebody like Eva playing Ana who just seems so well put together but yet she just falls apart on every level.”
Jencarlos Canela (Xavier) who portrays Ana Sofia’s ex-husband stated that “Eva brings a lot of herself to this character because Eva in real life she’s upbeat and she’s real.”
Then there’s actor Jose Moreno Brooks who plays Gael, Ana Sofia’s other close friend. Brooks said “I knew she was talented, I knew she was funny, but the stuff that she’s doing on the show it’s reminiscent of Lucille Ball.”
