NBC released a new trailer today for Season 4 of their hit show This Is Us, coming to the network in September. The trailer was released today in honor of the shared birthday of the three main characters, Kate, Kevin and Randall.
Since its beginning, This Is Us has been an event series for NBC. The first season in 2016 brought in an average 14.7 million viewers every week according to Deadline, and rose to 17.4 million viewers in its second season. The show has also been a major critical success, with an average 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. The show has been nominated for 27 Primetime Emmy Awards over the course of its run and as of this article has won three.
The hotly anticipated Season 4 trailer also confirmed that the premiere episode of the new season would be an extended episode, illustrating just how much of a television event This Is Us has become. The season will premiere on September 24th, starting at 9pm and running for a full hour. This hour episode will bump back the premiere of Season 2 of one of NBC’s other drama series, New Amsterdam, which airs immediately after This Is Us.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, there will be a wide array of new cast members joining the main cast of This Is Us. Some of the highlights include Asante Blackk, Jennifer Morrison, and M. Night Shyamalan, as well as Marsha Stephanie Blake, Omar Epps, Bahara Golestani, Timothy Omundson, Julian Silva, Auden Thornton and Nick Wechsler. Recurring cast members will also be making a return for Season 4, including Ron Cephas Jones, who won the 2018 Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his previous performance on This Is Us.
This Is Us has been confirmed for two additional seasons, with the sixth season likely being the show’s last. Season 4 of This Is Us will premiere on NBC on September 24th. You can watch the trailer below.
