NBC’s ‘Strange Calls’ Will Star ‘Community’s’ Danny Pudi

Danny Pudi will return to NBC for new comedy pilot, Strange Calls. 

This new horror comedy pilot, Strange Calls, will center around Toby (Pudi), a friendly, young cop who is experiencing some bad luck. As he is transferred to a rural town, he starts to realize that the town has a bizarre and supernatural aura. A peculiar, elderly watchman helps him unleash the true feeling of the town.

Pudi’s character, Toby, is a former Seattle cop who is transferred by his father to the small, rural town Coolum, an odd place where no one else wants to be out after dark.

According to The Hollywood Reporterthe pilot dates have been worked around Community, which will kick off its sixth and likely final season on Yahoo Screen on March 17. Danny Pudi will have to balance the schedules of both Strange Calls and Community. 

Blake McCormick (Cougar Town) will write the script for single-camera comedy Strange Calls and exec produce the 20th Century Fox Television, Kapital Entertainment and Hoodlum show. Also producing is Aaron Kaplan, Tracey Robertson, Nathan Mayfield and Jason Winer.

Pudi is represented by UTA, Velocity Entertainment Partners and attorney Bruce Gellman.
