Not only will Jennifer Lopez be the executive producer and a judge on new reality dance competition World of Dance, but she will also be returning as executive producer and as Detective Harlee Santos on Season 3 of NBC’s crime drama Shades of Blue, reports Variety.
Detective Harlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez) is a NYPD single mother who leads a very bonded group of Brooklyn detectives. They are often forced to bend and break the rules and their own morals in order to protect themselves, their fellow police officers, and their families. They find “shades of blue” to balance their personal and professional needs in a city that suffers from crimes large and small. In an additional twist, Santos is forced to work on the FBI anti-corruption task force, while also juggling her own financial setbacks. The show has been fairly successful in Season 2 at handling the recent political and social stresses and frustrations surrounding law enforcement.
Ray Liotta stars as corrupt cop Wozniak alongside Jennifer Lopez. As an unstable murderer, Wozniak is an often extremely unnerving force in the world of the New York police. TV Guide reports that Liotta is so intense that, amusingly enough, he even rattles his costars during filming.
Recently shades of blue has moved from Thursday prime time to Sunday at 10 PM and has still performed well in viewership, especially delayed viewership from those who catch up with taped versions after the show airs. The show has recently increased in popularity, and both Ray Liotta and Jennifer Lopez have recently received a lot of positive critical reception for their performances in Shades of Blue.
