NBC’s musical production of the classic Peter Pan Live! failed to fly as high as expected.
Although 9.2 Million viewers is a solid number for a network television show this year, Peter Pan only did half as well as last year’s Sound of Music Starring Carrie Underwood. they climbed the mountain to draw in 18.5 million viewers. According to Vulture, the numbers, though lower than last year’s showing were high compared to their average thursday night . The show also saw a huge plummet from the beginning to the end of the run time, with a very respectable 11.4 million tuning in for the start of the show but only 7 million were left in the final half-hour. NBC was out in front of the results though, with Robert Greenblatt stating he didn’t expect the numbers of Sound of Music since the newness factor of live – TV musicals wasn’t there this year.
