NBC’s long-lost dramedy series, Las Vegas, will now be available to watch again! The casino drama show starring the late James Caan (Thief, The Godfather), broadcasted for five seasons from September 2003 until February 2008 on the network, will be finding its new home on Peacock on Friday, Dec.29, according to TV Line. Las Vegas was created by Gary Scott Thompson (Fast & Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious).
The series follows the top-notch surveillance crew responsible for the upkeep of security at one of the Strip’s biggest casinos, Montecito Hotel. The crew handles the card counters, rival casinos stealing their high rollers and the expensive occurrences of random luck.
Closely compared to the series entitled Love Boat, the show’s main characters are an entertainment professional, a pit boss, a mysterious former competitor and a knowledgeable valet.
Caan portrayed Ed Deline, the head of security at Montecito. Other stars include Molly Simms (The Benchwarmers, House of Style), who plays Deline’s apprentice, Danny McCoy. Nikki Cox (Baywatch, Unhappily Ever After) plays the events director named Mary, and Vanessa Mercil (The Rock, General Hospital) plays the casino host and “whale” hunter Sam. James Lesure plays Mike (Fire with Fire, The Rookie: Feds), the head of the valet at Montecito while Marsha Thompson (Lost, White Collar) plays the head pit boss, Nessa.
Some recurring stars in the series were Cheryl Ladd (Charlie’s Angels, Poison Ivy) as Jillian, Deline’s wife and Delinda’s mom, and Tom Selleck (Magnum, P.I., Blue Bloods) as A.J. Cooper, who becomes the hotel’s owner in season five.
According to TV Line, the series generated a lot of media buzz following its release. The premise of one episode from the series’s first season was almost turned into a spinoff based around the New Orleans Montecito and would’ve starred Dennis Hopper (Blue Velvet, Super Mario Bros.)
“There was talk of that, but it just didn’t happen,” said Hopper. “It would have been an interesting show.” via TV Line
