Deadline reports that Peacock’s crime drama, M.I.A., will air its pilot on NBC on Thursday, May 14 at 10 p.m. EST. Earlier this week, Peacock announced all episodes will drop on May 7.
According to Deadline, M.I.A. stars Shannon Gisela (Her Study of a Killer, Strip Law) as Etta Tiger Jonze. Feeling confined by the Florida Keys, Etta dreams of living in Miami’s oasis. When tragedy strikes her family’s drug-dealing business, Etta’s dream comes true as she’s forced to trek Miami’s darker side in a journey that will define her.
Deadline reports that the cast is Cary Elwes (Robin Hood: Men in Tights, The Crush), Danay Garcia (Avenge the Crow, Liz in September), Brittany Adebumola (The Other Black Girl, Grand Army), Dylan Jackson (Floating Carousel, M.I.A.), Alberto Guerra (Crime Diaries: The Candidate, Narcos: Mexico and Griselda), Maurice Compte (End of Watch, Breaking Bad), Gerardo Celasco (Swimming with Sharks, The Waterfront) and Marta Milans (Devoured, Killer Women).
Deadline writes that the series’ trailer reveals when Etta’s family is killed, she only has one thing on her mind. Revenge. She wants to kill the many men that were responsible for the crime, which are looking to silence her next. With the help of her new friends, Etta finds protection amongst Florida’s Latin and Haitian communities.
According to Deadline, Bill Dubuque (The Accountant, The Family Man) is the series creator, writer and executive producer, and Karen Campbell (Outlander: Blood of My Blood, Raised by Wolves) serving as an executive producer and showrunner.
