NBC To replace Airings Of Peacock’s ‘The Paper’ With Comedy ‘Stumble’

According to Deadline, NBC will stop airing the series, The Paper, which originally aired on Monday, November 10 at 8:30 pm. The network has decided to replace The Office spinoff with the cheerleading comedy, Stumble, starring Jenn Lyon (English Teacher, Happy Face) and Taran Killam (High Potential, The Residence),  starting Monday, January 3. The Paper, which originally streamed on Peacock, had been schedule to air its full ten-episode season through January 26.

Variety also noted that the NBC executives are hoping to give the series, Stumble, more exposure by placing it on Monday night just behind St. Denis Medical, while still airing on Fridays at 8:30 pm behind Happy Place. Stumble follows Lyon as a community college cheer coach who is fired for inappropriate behavior caught on camera. To salvage her career and reputation, she takes on a rival school with no squad, hoping to turn the ragtag team into champions by the time of the national competition.

This series is not short-lived, as it had a two-season order at Peacock. Domhnall Gleeson (The American Revolution, Fountain Of Youth) stars in series as Ned, a new editor-in-chief of a Toledo newspaper which is on the verge of failing. The series follows documentary style filming, just as The Office did. Oscar Nunez (The School Duel, After We Wrap) from The Office came back to reprise his roll as Oscar, the accountant. Other cast members include, Sabrina Impacciatore (In The Hand of Dante, Kiff), Chelsea Frei (The Life List, The Weight of Dog), Melvin Gregg (Fight Night: the Million Dollar Heist, Story Ave), and Gbemisola Ikumelo (A League of their Own, Brain in Gear). Deadline reported that Peacock renewed the series for a second season claiming it as the second-biggest comedy premiere in Peacocks history as a streamer, just behind the show Ted.

Viewers can still watch all ten episodes of The Paper on Peacock.
