NBC Renews ‘Night Court’ For Season Three

NBC’s Night Court is coming back for a third season! According to TVLine, the series, which is a sequel to the original Night Court of 1984, will have 18 episodes in total for its third season.

The courtroom sitcom follows Judge Abby Stone, as portrayed by Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory, Batman and Harley Quinn), who oversees the same night court in New York City as her deceased father, Harry Stone, portrayed by Harry Anderson (IT, Dave’s World) in the original Night Court. Anderson passed away in 2018.

Other stars include John Larroquette (The Librarians, The Good Fight), an original cast member who reprises his role as attorney Dan Fielding. TVLine notes that Larroquette now portrays the court’s public defender in the series. Additionally, Lacretta (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Second Act) portrays the bailiff named Gurgs, and India de Beaufort (All Hail King Julien, Firefly Lane) portrays the prosecutor named Olivia.

As previously reported, Kapil Talwalkar (The Loud House, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), who portrayed Neil, the court clerk, left the series last year. Since his departure, Talwalkar has been replaced by Nyambi Nyambi (The Good Fight, Mike & Molly), who portrays Wyatt, the new court clerk.

Night Court’s second season kicked off in January with another original cast member, Marsha Warfield (The Richard Pryor Show, 9-1-1), returning to the courts to reprise her role as the former bailiff named Roz in both the season debut and finale on March 26, according to TVLine.

TVLine also notes that the second season of Night Court saw an average of 3.9 million viewers in total with a 0.44 demo rating, which included Live+7 playback. This is less than the first season by 25% and 37%, respectively.

As per TVLine, with the network’s impressive 15-scripted series that premiered this season, Night Court claims the 10th spot in audience and the eighth spot in demo.
