NBC Renews ‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Chicago P.D.’ and ‘Chicago Med,’ No Word on ‘Chicago Justice’

At least three of the four Chicago shows will be back next season on NBC. Entertainment Weekly confirms that the network has renewed Chicago FireChicago P.D. and Chicago Med. There’s no word on the renewal of Chicago Justice yet.

The renewal means that Chicago Fire will be entering its sixth season, Chicago P.D. will be entering its fifth season and will reach 100 episodes and Chicago Med will be entering its third season.

The renewals for the show aren’t a surprise. Chicago Fire is NBC’s number two overall show in terms of ratings, outranked by freshman phenom This Is UsChicago P.D. is NBC’s number three show on the network and Chicago Med is number five. Sister show Chicago Justice is currently sixth on the network and fellow Dick Wolf show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which also has yet to be renewed, is the fourth highest rated show on the network.

The ratings for Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. have remained fairly steady this season. Chicago Med‘s ratings have fallen slightly when it switched from airing Tuesday nights after The Voice to Thursday nights, where it aired after The Good Place and Powerless.

Overall this season, Chicago Fire is averaging a 1.55 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, Chicago P.D. is averaging a 1.39 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic and Chicago Med is averaging a 1.24 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. The numbers, which come from TV by the Numbers, are all the Nielsen Live + Same Day numbers. To get the ratings from the chart, you’ll have to add 0.7 to the second column of the chart, as it’s part of a formula the site uses to predict if a show will be renewed or canceled.

The season two finale of Chicago Med airs tonight, Thursday, May 11, at 9 p.m. Chicago Fire airs its season five finale on Tuesday, May 23 at 10 p.m. and Chicago P.D. airs its season four finale on Wednesday, May 24 at 10 p.m.
