NBC has decided to produce a holiday special, titled A Legendary Christmas, with the celebrity power-couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. It’s set to air Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 10/9c. on the network and will contrast thematically with its coinciding Thanksgiving air date.
Netflix and Comedy Central have produced similar holiday specials over the years as well, but they notably have stuck to the comedic side of things. With Legend’s soulful and evocative voice, NBC’s audience can enjoy the induced nostalgia of similar former specials featuring crooners like Dean Martin and Bing Crosby.
During the hour-long program, the couple will be joined by their friends and family, as well as a yet to be determined list of celebrities. Legend will also perform music tracks from his slated Oct. 26 album, A Legendary Christmas which was executive-produced by Raphael Saadiq.
With the album serving as the special’s main-theme, one might expect guest appearances from Esperanza Spalding and Stevie Wonder, considering they both lent their vocal talents and expertise to Legend’s new album.
Coincidentally, Legend also recently won an EGOT for the network’s produced Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert in which he starred in. He will also serve as a coach on the next year’s spring cycle of NBC’s The Voice. While, Teigen is still set to co-host Lip Sync Battle on the Paramount Network.
