The network is planning on airing a new live musical show in 2014, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The Sound Of Music Live! managed to get NBC a successful share of 18.6 million viewers on Thursday night, so NBC decided to start looking into other Broadway titles that could be the next reboot.
Sound of Music producers, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, are set to produce the next show and make the final decision on which show it will be, taking into account that it has to hail from Broadway and has to have familiar songs.
Although the deal, as of right now, is just to produce a new show in 2014, there are really strong possibilities of this becoming an annual holiday season tradition for the channel.
The live show cost NBC $9 million. They are looking into an encore set to air before Christmas Eve, a 22-song soundtrack already available on iTunes and the release of a DVD/Blur-ray on December 17.
