In their first collaboration, siblings Jeff and Liz Astrof have produced their first single-camera comedy for NBC. According to Deadline, the duo has landed Jenn Lyon (Claws, Phil Spector) for the lead role of Stumble. Lyon allegedly bested six other actresses for the role of Courteney Potter in the cheerleading mockumentary about the incredibly high expectations and competitive nature of being on a college cheer team.

Deadline reports Lyon’s Courteney is tied for becoming a cheer coach, but finds herself amidst a scandal when a video of her emerges partying with her team. She ends up accepting a job coaching cheer at a small school in a town with an unpronounceable name. The comedic series will follow the chaos and adventure Courteney experiences as she tries to regain her place in society.

With the Astrof siblings executively producing the series, Deadline lists cheerleading coach Monica Aldama (Cheer) and producer Dana Honor (A Million Little Things, Carol’s Second Act) will also join the production team. Jeff Blitz (Rocket Science, Call Me Kuchu) will direct and produce as well, but for the first episode only.

While Lyon herself is known for her role as Jennifer on TNT’s Claws with Niecy Nash (Don’t Forget The Lyrics, The Mindy Project), her next appearance will be a limited series entitled Sirens which will premiere on Netflix. Opposite Julianne Moore who has been seen in famous films such as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and Carrie, this upcoming limited series will premiere on Netflix on May 22. Some of Lyon’s other credits in the film industry which include tv and broadway, are films such as Happy Face and Dead Boy Detectives, and Larry David’s broadway production Fish in the Dark.

Jeff Astrof is known for his TV writing for such shows as Shining Vale and Trial & Error. His sister, Liz, is known for her book Don’t Wait Up: Confessions of a Stay-at-Work Mom.
