According to Deadline, NBC has cast Lex Scott Davis (The First Purge, Florida Man) as the female lead for the Suits spinoff Suits L.A. Davis will star opposite of Stephen Amell (Arrow, Code 8) and the recently casted Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead, The Loudest Voice), with production scheduled to begin in late March in Vancouver.
Suits L.A. follows Ted Black, portrayed by Amell, who is a former federal prosecutor from New York turned lawyer for big clients in Los Angeles. He partners with an old friend, Stuart Lane, portrayed by McDermitt, to create a new firm, Black Lane Law, which specializes in criminal and entertainment law.
As reported previously by mxdwn, the official synopsis for the series is as follows:, “the spinoff will follow a brand new character named Ted Black who will be played by Amell. The official synopsis for the series is as follows: “Ted’s firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”
According to Deadline, Davis is set to play Erica Rollins. The character is described as a rising star in the firm, Erica works for Ted Black. She test members of the firms loyalty only to admire some for having none.
Series creator and writer Aaron Korsh (Everybody Loves Raymond, Pearson) executive produces alongside David Bartis (The Wall, Edge of Tomorrow). Gene Klein (Impulse, Covert Affairs) and Doug Liman (Swingers, Fair Game) return from the original series as executive producers. Victoria Mahoney (Yelling to the Sky, The Red Line) is set to direct and produce the pilot. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.
Davis recently acted in the Netflix limited series Florida Man. She appeared alongside Édgar Ramírez (The Bourne Ultimatum, Zero Dark Thirty), Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road, The Dark Tower) and Otmara Marrero (Connecting…, StartUp).
