Brooklyn Nine-Nine is officially coming back for a sixth season. NBC has decided to bring the show to their network after FOX decided to cancel the show. Two streaming giants Netflix and Hulu thought about picking up the show, but they instead pass on it. However, NBC has renewed Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but only for a thirteen episode season.
Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman said, “Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home. Mike Schur, Dan Goor and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”
Both Schur and Goor (former college roommates) executive produced NBC’s Parks and Recreation. Samberg took part in Saturday Night Live, and Schur had also worked on The Office. This will be the third comedy Schur is working on for NBC’s 2018-2019 season. He also has The Good Place and newly ordered Abby’s.
Schur and Goor along with the cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine took to Twitter to celebrate the good news. Here are their tweets:
The stars of Brooklyn Nine-Nine are: Andy Samberg, Fumero, Beatriz, Terry Crews, and Joe Lo Truglio. All of which play as detective in the Brooklyn police squad along with Andre Braugher (whom plays as their boss) and Chelsea Peretti as the unit’s overconfident administrator.
