‘Mr. Robot’ is Coming to Life with a Limited VR Experience at San Diego Comic-Con 2016

This Thursday, a once in a life time opportunity is coming to San Diego Comic-Con 2016. USA Network’s Mr. Robot will be giving fans of the show the opportunity to dive into the technological future of virtual reality by providing a 12-minute VR experience featuring the cast of the show, but once that time passes, the whole thing will disappear without a trace.

The event will take place on July 21, at San Diego’s Petco Park. Doors will open at 9 a.m. and the experience will begin at 10:45 a.m.. Attendees of the event will be provided with custom Mr. Robot cardboard glasses in order to enhance their VR experience, the first 2,500 fans will receive Mr. Robot branded headphones.

For fans who won’t be able to attend this years Comic-Con, do not fret, the entire experience (minus the cast) will be available on the Within app. All fans have to do is download the app and download the “Mr. Robot VR Experience” prior to the event and tune in at 10:45 a.m.. The VR experience will also be available at the “Mr. Robot Repair Shop” at Comic-Con which will feature an authentic replica of the Mr. Robot computer store from the series and the interior of Elliot’s apartment. Just to sweeten the pot even more, the event has partnered with Uber, which will allow fans to request the the event to appear via vehicle using the Uber app.

The second season of Mr. Robot recently premiered on the USA Network and was unfortunately met with low viewership, dropping an astonishing 20% compared to the first seasons premiere. Fans shouldn’t fear cancellation however, not only does the show garner large portion of its views from online sources, the first episode of season 2 was released early online, before the show was scheduled to premiere on the network, which undoubtedly contributed to the dip in numbers for the shows actual premiere. Additionally, USA seems to have a large amount of faith in the success of the series as they have ordered an additional 2 episodes for season 2, raising the total to 12 episodes.

You can catch Mr. Robot at 10/9C p.m. Wednesdays on USA Network, and you can catch up on the series by checking out past episodes on Amazon Prime.
