More Casting News for HBO’s “The Leftovers”

Four more actors have been cast in HBO’s the Leftovers pilot, portraying those left behind in a post-apocalyptic world.

Joining the previously cast Justin Theroux are Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Carrie Coon (The Playboy Club), Ann Dowd (Compliance) and Amanda Warren (the Closer).

Eccleston will play Matt Jamison, a former reverend and current tabloid editor. Coon is Nora Durst, “a wife and mother who is suddenly neither,” while Dowd will be Patti Levin, the leader of the cult-like Guilty Remnant organization. Warren is set to play Lucy Warburton, the mayor of Mapleton, who will likely work closely with Theroux’s Kevin Garvey, the town’s police chief.

Ron Yerxa, Albert Berger and Sarah Aubrey will produce the series along with director Peter Berg and writers Tom Perrotta and Damon Lindelof, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Though HBO continues to round out the Leftovers cast, there has been no word yet on when production will begin.
