Marvel’s Moon Knight set a YouTube record for a Marvel streaming show, after its release Monday night during the NFL Wildcard Game on ESPN, according to Comicbook. The series, which accumulated over 1 million likes on the Marvel YouTube channel, will begin streaming on Disney+ on March 30 as the first Marvel television show to premiere in 2022.
The sixth Marvel show to debut on Disney+, Moon Knight beat out the first trailers for Hawkeye (915,000), WandaVision (760,000), Loki, (695,000), and the second trailer of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (652,000). Similar to the latter series’ trailer, Moon Knight‘s first trailer aired during the NFL Wildcard Game on ABC and was given the greater advantage of a football audience. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s debut trailer aired during the Super Bowl.
While The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s first trailer garnered 125 million views in its first 24 hours, Moon Knight had 75 million, Loki had 60 million, and WandaVision had 52 million.
The Marvel and Disney+ series will star Oscar Isaac (Dune) as Moon Knight aka Steven Grant, who discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. The two identities must learn to “embrace the chaos” while battling a deadly mystery involving the gods of Egypt.
