In May, it was revealed that rising young actor Alastair Stout would play Ron Weasley in HBO’s Harry Potter reboot series, based on the novel series by author J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), who is also set to executive produce. Now, Ron’s mischievous siblings have also been casted via the below announcement on HBO’s Instagram account.

The caption of the post states that Tristan and Gabriel Harland will play twins Fred and George Weasley. Ruari Spooner will play Percy Weasley, and Gracie Cochrane (Blitz) will play Ginny Weasley. Meanwhile, it was previously revealed on mxdwn that Dominic McLaughlin is set to play Harry Potter himself, and Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, Harry’s intelligent and confident friend. All of them are rising actors. Furthermore, Deadline writes that the Weasleys’ mother, Molly, will be played by Katherine Parkinson (Doc Martin, The IT Crowd). The Weasleys’ father, Arthur, hasn’t been cast yet, nor has eldest brothers Charlie and Bill.
Ron Weasley is Harry Potter’s best friend, and he is known for coming from a rather large family; he has five brothers and one sister. Fred and George, the twins and Ron’s older brothers, are known as the pranksters of Hogwarts, while Percy, also an older brother of Ron, devotes himself to school and his role as prefect. Ginny is Ron’s only sister, and is younger than him by a year. She plays an important role in the second book of the Harry Potter novels: The Chamber of Secrets.
On the other hand, some of Hogwarts’ staff have already been casted. Deadline writes that Paapa Essiedu (The Lazarus Project, I May Destroy You) will play Professor Severus Snape, John Lithgow (Dexter, The Crown) will play Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer (The Governor, Ozark) will play Professor Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost (Paul, Truth Seekers) will play gameskeeper and groundskeeper Rubeus Hagrid.
Harry Potter is one of the most highly-anticipated series of the decade. It is currently in production, according to mxdwn. Deadline writes that it is set to air in 2027.
