Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep), creator of Haunting of Hill House, has shared new projects he would like to work on. On Saturday, at a FanEXPO Canada panel, the horror creator said that he admires the work of DCU’s James Gunn (Peacemaker, Scooby-Doo) and would love to work with him on future DCU projects, Comicbook.com reports.
“I’ve always been a huge fan of Gunn as a person and filmmaker, and that is a universe I would absolutely love to be apart of,” Flanagan explained via Comicbook.com. The video from fan can be seen in the X (formerly Twitter) post embedded below.
“The Exorcist is one of the reasons I became a filmmaker, and it is an honor to have the chance to try something fresh, bold, and terrifying within its universe,” Flanagan shared via Comicbook.com. “Reuniting with my friends at Blumhouse, with whom I’ve made some of my favorite pieces of work, only makes this more exciting.”
“Gunn and Safran shared that the first DC projects for Gods and Monsters will include movies for Superman, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Swamp Thing and The Authority. Furthermore, according to Comicbook.com, it will also include the HBO series Waller, Booster Gold, Lanterns, Paradise Lost and the animated series Creature Commandos. The two creators shared their thoughts on this year’s projects in a statement this past year.
“We’re honored to be the stewards of these DC characters we’ve loved since we were children,” Gunn and Safran explained via Comicbook.com. “We look forward to collaborating with the most talented writers, directors, and actors in the world to create an integrated, multilayered universe that still allows for the individual expression of the artists involved. Our commitment to Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Harley Quinn, and the rest of the DC stable of characters is only equaled by our commitment to the wonder of human possibility these characters represent. We’re excited to invigorate the theatrical experience around the world as we tell some of the biggest, most beautiful, and grandest stories ever told.”
