Michael Strahan Joining ‘Good Morning America’

Strahan will continue to co-host Live with Kelly and Michael while joining the ABC morning talk show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Strahan is the new addition to GMA. It is not confirmed when he will start, but he will appear on the show’s 7 a.m. hour before heading to the Live! with Kelly and Michael studio.

Strahan will continue to co-host Live with Kelly and Michael. There has been talk between Strahan and the ABC News executives for months. There are also sources saying that he won’t replace any of the current GMA anchors and he is expected to appear often on the show, but still not five days a week.

The addition of Strathan balances out GMA’s recent gender imbalance created by the departure of Josh Elliott and Sam Champion (the show’s weather anchor). So, this week George Stephanopoulos has been the only male anchor on the show among the female co-anchors Lara Spencer, Amy Robach and Ginger Zee.

The deal is not expected to affect the ex-NFL player’s role as an analyst on Fox NFL Sunday. “It is our understanding that the ‘GMA’ deal is not finalized, but if/when it becomes official, his role is not expected to change with Fox Sports,” said Fox Sports insider as noted by The Wrap.

Elliot announced the ABC News executives on Sunday night that he will life and accept a dead at NBC Sports. The network is expected to make the Elliott’s addition to the division official Wednesday during a conference call with NBC Sports chairman, Mark Lazarus.
