The tale of Robin Hood has deep roots within the media and storytelling. These characters have been around for centuries dating back to old folklore. The unreleased series stands out as it’s been in the works for years. Executive producers Jonathan English (Ironclad) and John Glenn (Seal Team) have been pitching the series as a new version of Robin Hood. Now, it is ready to come to light. With MGM+ taking on the series Todd Lieberman (Muppets Most Wanted) will also join the team as an executive producer.
Bean made his mark in Hollywood with Lord Of The Rings Saga and National Treasure. Andy Gotts (Photographer) revealed in Deadline that although the show will be about Robin Hood, Bean’s character will have an important storyline. “Bean will play the Sheriff of Nottingham who is envisioned as a statesman, a strategist, and a builder of Nottingham itself. A loving father, a politician, and cousin to King Henry II, he navigates the dangerous tides of power, facing not only an outlaw in the woods but also the ambitions of Eleanor of Aquitaine and the Norman Barons that surround him. Cunning and pragmatic, he is a man who rules with an iron hand, not out of cruelty, but an unshakable belief that the law, as Normans see it, must be preserved.”
Fans will get a ten-episode series, as of February 2025. The show is set to come out late next year.
