Meredith Stiehm Returning To ‘Homeland’

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Stiehm will be leaving The Bridge to return to Homeland.

Meredith Stiehm, one of Homeland‘s original writers, had left the show after its second season to run The Bridge with Elwood Reid.

Now, with Homeland renewed for a fourth season and very possibly a fifth, the writer/producer is coming back to the Showtime show as an executive producer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the reasons for the move was because Stiehm and Reid didn’t always “see eye to eye” on how to run The Bridge, with Stiehm finally deciding to step down and return to Homeland.

Homeland‘s staff is visibly happy with this move, with Stiehm having been the only female writer of the show during the first seasons and being particularly useful since she brought to the show her own experience with bipolar’s disease (which Carrie Mathison, Homeland‘s leading character, also suffers from).
