According to The Hollywood Reporter, Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina: The Animated Series) recently revealed that one of the “worst days” of her life occurred while she was the lead actress for Sabrina the Teenage Witch and how she was nearly fired after doing a Maxim photo shoot. -add works for Melissa Joan Hart In a recent episode of Pod Meets World Podcast, hosts Danielle Fishel (Boy Meets World), Will Friedle (The Legend of Vox Machina), and Rider Strong (Irish Twins) shared a photo of Hart with Britney Spears (Crossroads) at a New York premiere of Drive Me Crazy which the actress recalls by saying, “If you look at my eyes in the photo, I’d been crying all evening.”
Hart states that the day started rough as she was planning to break up with her current boyfriend at the time that was also in the movie and then later was told she couldn’t leave her car on the red carpet until Spears arrived. Hart says, “I had to wait on the red carpet. They wanted me to wait in my car for like an hour for Britney to show up so we could do photos together. And I was like, ‘Can I just go, start doing the press?’ They were like, ‘Nope, You’ve got to wait for Britney.’
According to The Hollywood Reporter, after the red carpet event Hart was taken away by limo to head straight to the airport so she could be at the shoot for Scary Movie in Vancouver. Which then later she said that on the way to the airport, she received a call in which she was fired from the movie. After the call, she decided to go to the Planet Hollywood after-party instead.
She spoke about her initial role in the Scary Movie and said, ‘’I was supposed to be the opening, vivacious, big-breasted one that’s like murdered or something in the beginning. And I was put in a limo, and I was taken away, and I had just broken up with my boyfriend while we were in the movie, and I’m crying and I’m upset.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hart believed that was the end of her day and things couldn’t have gotten worse but they did. Later that day Hart heard the news about Sabrina and her lawyer asked her if she did a photo shoot with Maxim magazine she responded that she did and her lawyer said, ‘’Well, you’re being sued and fired from your show, so don’t talk to the press, don’t do anything.’’
Hart then said, “phone call on my cell phone from my mother, my producer, who was like, ‘What did you do?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know, whatever my publicist told me to do at the photo shoot. Like I did a photo shoot for Maxim! It’s Maxim, of course you’re gonna be in your underwear.’”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reason for the entire dilemma was because of a line during the photoshoot cover which said, “Sabrina, your favorite witch without a stitch.” She was accused violating her Archie Comics contract which later she resolved by stating that had no ground to stand on. She told them she had no control over what the magazine wrote and published and led to a day ordeal to an entire week as it took time to straighten everything out.
