Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus, Sirens, The Perfect Couple) is set to star in the upcoming limited series Smokeshow. According to Deadline, the project is based on Catriona Stewart’s (People Pleaser, Smokeshow) upcoming novel of the same name and has landed with SK Global and David E. Kelley Productions following a competitive bidding war.
The series will combine elements of a thriller and dark romantic comedy. Fahy will play Rory, a covert operative who becomes romantically involved with her target, Nolan. As their relationship develops, Rory is forced to choose between continuing the life she has always known or taking the opportunity to break free.
The project is expected to be presented to potential buyers in the coming weeks, with a select round of pitches being scheduled. A network or streaming platform has not yet been announced.
Kirstie Swain (Sweetpea, Pure, Run) will adapt Stewart’s novel for television and serve as an executive producer. Swain created, writes and executive produces Sweetpea, which is expected to return for its second season in early 2027.
Fahy will also serve as a producer alongside David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, The Lincoln Lawyer, The Practice), Matthew Tinker (Big Little Lies, The Undoing, Nine Perfect Strangers) and Shelby Leshine (Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Presumed Innocent, All Day) for David E. Kelley Productions. SK Global’s Chloe Dan (Crazy Rich Asians, The Season, Smoke & Mirrors) and Trish Esselen (Smokeshow) will oversee the project for the studio.
Smokeshow marks another upcoming limited series for Fahy, who is also set to star in HBO’s The Trial of Louise Woodward. Her upcoming projects also include Peacock’s The Good Daughter, alongside Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids, Damages, Physical), and Amazon MGM’s romantic comedy You Deserve Each Other, opposite Penn Badgley (You, Gossip Girl, Easy A).
Stewart’s Smokeshow will be published by Random House next summer. Additional casting details and a release date for the television adaptation have not yet been announced.
