Step up, ladies. Venezuelan soccer star and single dad Juan Pablo Galavais is the next Bachelor.
According to Huffington Post, Galavais is the first non-Caucasian Bachelor in the show’s history.
Galavais was a contestant on Season 9 of The Bachelorette, but he was was eliminated early on. His journey ended in Episode 6, but he worked with the time he got and won the fans over.
The next Bachelor or Bachelorette is usually the runner-up from the previous season. However, that changed last year as fan favorite Desiree was given the opportunity. Similarly, Galavais had a loyal fan-base who were happy to see him on the next season of The Bachelor.
His four-year-old daughter Camilla is hoping The Bachelor leads to some siblings for her.
Galavais’ season of The Bachelor will air January 2014.
