‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season Three Set To Debut On Paramount+ In June

Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), is set to strike with its third season this June. According to TVLine, the streamer revealed today that the series will return on June 2 and even unveiled a 30-second trailer for the season.

The return of the series will mark 18 months since Renner suffered a snowplow accident with critical injuries at his Lake Tahoe home. Following his accident, Renner had surgery for orthopedic issues and blunt chest trauma; after the surgery, he recovered in the hospital for 16 days. He also made an Instagram post to fans stating that he had broken over 30 bones.

TVLine notes that at CNN’s New Year’s Eve countdown special last December, hosted by Andy Cohen (Top Chef) and Anderson Cooper (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Renner told the pair that he was gearing up to restart production on Mayor of Kingstown

Renner said, “I think I’m ready, I think I’m strong enough. We’ll see… I literally go back in a week. But I’ll be doing my best, trying my hardest.”

As per TVLine, the official logline for Mayor of Kingstown season three reads, “A series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike McLusky (Renner) to end the war, but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.”

TVLine also notes that season three will welcome some new faces, such as Denny Love (Looking for Alaska), Paula Malcolmson (The Hunger Games) and Richard Brake (Kingsman: The Secret Service), who will all have recurring roles. Michael Beach (Aquaman) has been upgraded to series regular with his police captain character, Kareem Moore.

Additionally, Dianne Wiest (Edward Scissorhands), who portrays Mariam McLusky, will not be on board for season 3 as TVLine reports her leave was “creatively driven.” As a refresher, *spoiler alert* Wiest’s character was unfortunately shot in the stomach during season two’s finale.
