According to a Max press release, Creature Commandos has been renewed for season two exclusively on Max. The show, executive produced and written by James Gunn (Superman, Guardians of the Galaxy), is releasing a new episode of every Thursday through January 9.
The logline for season one of the adult animated series via the press release is as follows: “Creature Commandos tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails… they’re your last, worst option.”
The cast of Creature Commandos includes: Alan Tudyk (Moana, Big Hero 6) as Dr. Phosphorus, Anya Chalotra (The Watcher, The ABC Murders) as Circle, David Harbor (Stranger Things, Black Widow) as Frankenstein, Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Purge: Anarchy) as Rick Flag Sr., Indira Varma (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love) as The Bride, Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, The Honeymoon) as Princess Ilana, Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls, The Suicide Squad) as GI Robot & Weasel, Steve Agee (The Sarah Silverman Program, Peacemaker) as Economos, Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder, The Help) as Amanda Waller and Zoe Chao (If You Were the Last, Your Place or Mine) as Nina Mazursky.
The show is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios. Additional executive producers include Dean Lorey (Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, Friday the 13th: The Series), Peter Safran (Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom) and Sam Register (The Looney Tunes Show, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge). Supervising producer is Rick Morales (Batman vs. Two-Face, Star Wars: The Clone Wars).
Multiple reviews from Collider, IGN and TheWrap came in, praising the show for its characters, cast members’ portrayals and cinematic universe. Gunn, Amy Gravitt, Peter Girardi and Peter Safran also commented and offered positive feedback on the animated series as noted by the press release.
