Max Mutchnick & Jeff Astrof’s Potential ‘Will & Grace’ Companion Ordered by NBC

It’s been a pretty good week for the Will & Grace family. After it was officially announced that the show would be returning with new episodes, W&G creator Max Mutchnick has another iron in the NBC fire.

Deadline reports that Mutchnick’s new show has been given a pilot order by the network. The show also helmed by Jeff Astrof, who previously worked on a CBS/WBTV sitcom with Mutchnick, which is entitled Partners. However, their new series is called Happy Peppers, and relies on the dynamic between an adult brother and sister who are forced to live together after a sudden loss; while they may not be best friends as the characters on Will & Grace were, the characters in Happy Peppers appear to go through similar emotional problems while looking out for each other.

Mutchnick and Astrof are signed on to executive produce the series. Happy Peppers had previously been developed at CBS last season, but Deadline writes that it provided producers a perfect companion to the upcoming Will & Grace revival. With the success of Will & Grace both in its original run and now, executives noted that adding another multi-camera comedy could be a beneficial move for the network.
