Emily Rios and Matthew Lillard have been promoted to regulars on the second season of FX’s The Bridge.
According to Deadline, both actors appear in almost all of The Bridge‘s first season. Both Rios and Lillard portray El Paso Time reporters Ariana Mendez and Daniel Frye. Becoming regulars on the show cements their characters importance in the upcoming storyline.
The season finale involves both characters finding a home filled with cash that leads to an investigation on both sides of the US/Mexico border in the second season.
The Bridge was renewed in September for a second season with a 13-episode order. Ratings for the show were high, making it the number one new scripted television show for key demographics.
There are changes happening on the show behind-the-scenes as well. Meredith Stiehm is returning to Showtime’s Homeland full time. She developed the series with Elwood Reid. Reid will take over day-to-day responsibilities on The Bridge. Stiehm will continue to executive produce.
