Mary Elizabeth Winstead Joins ‘Fargo’ Season 3 Cast

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is getting involved in the crime-ridden underbelly of Minnesota.

According to Deadline, Winstead is set to join Ewan McGregor and Carrie Coon in the third season of the Emmy-winning FX anthology crime series.

Winstead is mainly known for her film roles in movies like 10 Cloverfield Lane and Scott Pilgrim, but she has also recently done quite a bit of TV work. Winstead stars in CBS’ sci-fi political series BrainDead, and starred as nurse Mary Phinney in PBS’ Civil War drama Mercy Street.

For season 3 of Fargo Winstead is set to portray bridge-enthusiast and parolee Nikki Swango. Swango is the type of woman to keep her eye on the prize and stay one step ahead of her competitors. She joins McGregor’s twin brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy, and Carrie Coon’s Eden Valley police chief Gloria Burgle.

Season 2 of Fargo, which feature a stellar cast that included Jesse Plemons, Patrick Wilson, Kirsten Dunst, and Ted Danson, has a total of 18 nominations heading into this Sunday’s Emmys. The series’ many nominations include Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series.

FX’s Coen Brothers anthology adaptation comes from creator/writer/showrunner Noah Hawley, who is also behind FX’s X-Men series LegionFargo is executive produced by Hawley, Joel and Ethan Coen, Warren Littlefield, and John Cameron.
