Disney+ released a trailer for its upcoming Marvel series Moon Knight. The highly anticipated series was teased along with other Marvel Cinematic Universe series such as She–Hulk and Ms. Marvel, via Den Of Geek. Created by Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy), the series is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Moon Knight is set to be a part of the Phase Four of the MCU.
The 39-second trailer features some intense yet exciting scenes. It first introduces the protagonist of the series, Marc Spector. We see him wakes up in a darkened museum. Surrounding him is some Egyptian iconography, which is essential to the character’s background. In the museum, Marc is covering his mouth so as not to make a sound. In the background, we can see a dark CGI creature with glowing eyes approaches him as he cowers in fear.
Then, the vision cut to other scenarios such as a storage facility, a bus station, and a high school bathroom. In the bathroom, we can see Marc zealously punching someone on the floor. We also see Marc’s reflection acting independently of himself, indicating Marc’s different identities like Steven Grant and Jake Lockley.
The show stars Oscar Issac, who will play the main character Marc Spector, aka Moon Knight. Issac lately appeared in films such as Dune, Annihilation, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Executive producer and president of the Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige (Black Panther, Avengers: End Game), described Spector as “an action hero who jumps out of buildings and gets into fights”.
Joining Issac are May Calamawy (Ramy) and Ethan Hawke (Before Sunrise, Training Days). Hawke will play the main antagonist of the show, one that is “inspired by cult leader David Koresh”, he said. Fans are speculating that Hawke may play the character Dracula, or some kind of blood-sucking figure. However, few of Hawke’s character is confirmed at this point.
Moon Knight will contain six episodes, with each lasting 40-50 minutes. Production of the show had wrapped on Oct. 14th. The series is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in 2022.
