Marvel’s ‘Hit Monkey’ is Coming Back for Season Two

Hit Monkey is getting renewed for a surprising second season on Hulu; although a release date has yet to be released according to Deadline. Season 2 will take place in New York City with more death-defying swordsmanship with Bryce played by Jason Sudekis (We’re The Millers, Ted Lasso, Horrible Bosses) and Monkey played by Fred Tatasciore (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Avengers Assemble, Ben 10: Secret if the Omnitrix). The first season consisted of ten episodes and initially aired in Late 2021.

Deadline has confirmed that Sudekis is returning to Hit Monkey, as well as Oliva Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse, Magic Mike, Tales of the Walking Dead) who plays Akiko, the niece of The Prime Minister of Japan and future Yakuza killer taking the mantle of “Lady Bullseye”; and, Ally Maki (Home Sweet Home Alone, Wrecked, Toy Story 4) playing Haruka, an innocent cop from a small town tasked with finding the Hit Monkey. Lastly, Leslie Jones (Ghostbusters [Female Reboot], Saturday Night Live, Supermarket Sweep) has been casted for the second season of Hit Monkey but her role has not been revealed to the public.

Season 2 is surprising due to Hit Monkey falling under the radar for the majority of Marvel fans and was largely overshadowed by other major MCU projects and Disney+ exclusives television or shorts. But Hit Monkey is a superhero in his own right and might have a shot at collaborating with other projects/heroes in the ever growing multiverse Marvel is building.

An American assassin, Bryce travels to Japan as a contracted killer. Once he fulfills his contract his employers decide someone has to take the blame, so why not Bryce. Bryce disagrees and escapes into the woods where he is rescued by a pack of snow apes. Eventually the Yakuza soldiers catch up to Bryce and track him down to the monkey tribe. Bryce and the tribe are slaughtered in cold blood, with one angry ape left to take on his unfinished business. He picks up the assault rifles and murders the yakuza soldiers who wiped out his tribe and Bryce. Now with a new mission to find those responsible for the bloodshed and Bryce’s employer, Bryce’s soul is tethered to the monkey and becomes his ghostly guru helping the monkey become an elite assassin.

In the past couple of years, Marvel has moved into the television series starting off with WandaVision which was an immediate  success and won Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program. (Half-Hour or Less). With tons of other award winning shows following suit such as Loki, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and many more to be released; some for a second season too.
