According to Comicbook, Marvel has recently confirmed the role that Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Luca) will take on in the Disney+ series Ironheart. In Marvel’s new copyright filing it has been announced that Cohen will be taking on the role of Mystery Man. Fans speculate that this is just a placeholder as original reports pointed all signs to Cohen playing the notorious villain Mephisto who fans have rumored to be in the MCU since WandaVision. Dominique Thorne (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) recently spoke with Comicbook over these rumors.
Thorne said, “Oh man, the series is on its way. We just finished filming, actually, on November two and I think there’s a lot for fans to sink their teeth into, especially if they enjoyed what they got to see of Riri Williams in a whole other world that was not her own. I think they might be in for a good time, stepping into a world that is her own.”
Ironheart is based on a Marvel comic book series of the same name. The main character Riri Williams is a brilliant inventor who creates her own Iron Man style, high-tech suit. Other than Thorne and Cohen the series cast includes Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures), Zoe Terakes (Janet King), Manny Montana (Mayans M.C), Anthony Ramos (In the Heights), Lyric Ross (Wendell & Wild), Harper Anthony (Vulture City), Tanya Christiansen (The Hate U Give), and many more.
Mephisto is a fictional character who appears in Marvel comics and is based on a demonic character named Mephistopheles. Ever since WandaVision, fans have speculated that he is playing a major role in the MCU. However, this is just a rumor that has been debunked many times as the character has yet to fully be involved in any Marvel project.
Ironheart has yet to have an official release date but fans can expect the series either late 2024 or early 2025.
