At the semi-annual Television Critics Association’s winter press tour Netflix announced that its original series period drama, Marco Polo, will be back for a second season.
Production will begin later this year on a second round of ten episodes for the Netflix original series Marco Polo.
The drama, produced by the Weinstein Co. and Electus and stars Lorenzo Richelmy as Marco, launched in December 2014 to mixed reviews. The drama was created by John Fusco and according to The Hollywood Reporter is likely still in business because it represents a large international swing for Netflix.
Marco Polo joins other mostly successful Netflix originals including BoJack Horseman, The Crown, House of Cards, Longmire, Love, Narcos, and Orange Is the New Black.
On Wednesday Netflix also announced premiere dates for series including Marvel’s Daredevil (April 10), Bloodline (March 20), The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (March 6) as well as Grace and Frankie (May 8). More info can be found on Netflix.
