According to The Hollywood Reporter, Saturday Night Live actor Marcello Hernández (Impractical Joker, Happy Gilmore 2) shares his thoughts on former series co-star Bowen Yang (Wicker: For Good, The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy) on their exit from the NBC comedy series towards the end of 2025. Hernández has been part of the SNL cast since 2022 and was asked by The Hollywood Reporter at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday what it was like seeing the fellow co-star exit the series.
“He’s a guy that I’ve seen work so hard and he put up numbers,” he said via The Hollywood Reporter. “You know, if this was a team, he’d be one of those guys that had a great career, and I’m excited to see what he does next. And he’s the man. Everybody loves him. You know, I’m one of those people.”
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Yang joined SNL as a writer back in 2018 before fully joining the cast the following year. His final episode on SNL aired on December 20. The last episode he was in was a Christmas episode hosted by his friend Ariana Grande (Brighter Days Ahead, Focker In-Law).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, they also asked Hernández what projects he wants to take on outside of SNL. His first Netflix Special comes out on the seventh of January, he said he’s also “excited about doing standup and hopefully doing some more acting. I’m writing, you know, trying to do the whole thing.”
As per The Hollywood Reporter, fans of the sketch comedy and Hernández are in luck as he is not leaving SNL any time soon. He was also recently asked by E! News if he was planning to leave behind Domingo or any other of his iconic SNL characters in the near future.
“I’m there. I’m there. I’m there,” he replied via The Hollywood Reporter, adding, “I’m having fun. It’s a crazy job and you get to meet so many crazy people and I love it. I’m having fun.”
