According to Variety, the video game series Life is Strange is being adapted by Prime Video. The show was reportedly announced in September 2025. Today, they announced Maisy Stella (My Old Ass, Nashville) and Tatum Grace Hopkins (Meek) in the lead roles.
The series will focus on Hopkins’s Max, a photography student who can rewind time with her camera, via Variety. Given her new ability, she strives to save the life of a childhood friend, Chloe, played by Stella. Together, they investigate another mystery haunting their town.
Life is Strange is written by Charlie Covell (Forget Me Not, Truelove), who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. Variety reports additional executive producers are Dmitri M. Johnson (Tomb Raider, Split Fiction), Michael Lawrence Goldberg (Ruiner, Slash House), and Timothy I. Stevenson (The Eliminator, Ruiner) via Story Kitchen. The game’s studio, Square Enix, joins LuckyChap, Story Kitchen and Amazon MGM Studios with production.
Variety mentions Life is Strange is Hopkins’s TV debut. She’s primarily been on stage in Broadway plays like The Queen of Versailles and For the Girls. She also starred in the 2024 short film, Meek.
According to Variety, Stella is an established musician whose most known for her time on ABC’s Nashville, where she played Daphne Conrad. She also starred in the film My Old Ass, earning her an Independent Spirit Award, as well as Poetic License and Flowervale Street.
The original video game series celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2024, releasing an installment Life is Strange: Double Exposure, which mxdwn reviewed. The video game featured original character, Max Caufield, and released special vinyl edition of its soundtrack.
A new installment, Life is Strange: Reunion, officially arrives on March 26 for Xbox and PC. mxdwn previously reported that actress Ashly Burch (Adventure Time, The Ghost and Molly McGee) shared how she was not tapped to return and voiceact for the new title.
