

The wizarding world is abuzz with exciting casting news on the future HBO Harry Potter series. According to Deadline, it has been announced that the renowned British actor comedian, Nick Frost (Into the Badlands, Hot Fuzz), is currently making a deal to play the lovable half-giant and groundskeeper, Rubeus Hagrid, who was previously played by the late Robbie Coltrane (Brave, Cracker).Frost later posted on his official Instagram page, with the caption: “It’s happening, it’s actually happening.”
According to Deadline, Nick Frost is well known for his quick wit and outstanding performance in his previous work such as Shaun of the Dead, and will surely apply it to this role as well. This is just one future role for the renowned actor, as Frost will play other iconic roles such as Gobber in the live action How to Train Your Dragon film.

According to Deadline, Frost will go on to join the confirmed cast which includes John Lithgow (Shrek, Dexter), Janet McTeer (Ozark, Kaos) and Paapa Essiedu (The Lazarus Project, Genie), who will be playing Dumneldore, McGonagall and Snape. HBO gives clarification on the recent gossip, ”We appreciate that such a high-profile series will draw a lot of rumor and speculation. As we make our way through pre-production, we will only confirm details as we finalize deals.”
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, the reboot series could show iconic creatures raised by Hagrid such as Fluffy the three headed dog, Buckbeack the Hippogriff and Aragog the spider. According to Deadline, the series has already been signed to run for a decade, in which could span across several of the books, such as Chamber of Secrets to the Prisoner of Azkaban.
The upcoming Harry Potter series aims to provide a great adaptation to JK Rowling’s (The Running Grave) book series, and with the potential addition of Nick Frost will add another layer of anticipation to the approaching project.
